Gulf Coast Junior Classic Timbercreek Golf Club Daphne, Alabama July 18-19, 2009 Brennan fires 68 on Sunday to win by 12 Mize hangs onto lead Daphne, Ala- Timbercreek golf club in Daphne, Alabama played host to the second annual Gulf Coast Junior Classic this past weekend July 18-19, 2009. Timbercreek, which features rolling fairways and beautiful scenery, required precision both off the tee and into the greens. The weather was perfect throughout the weekend with sunny skies and a brisk wind. In the Boys 16-19 division, Philip Brennan of Mobile, Alabama carded an opening round of one-over- par 73 to share the first round lead with Fisher Bodenstein of Milton, Florida. During the final round, Brennan came out swinging with five birdies en route to a three-under-par 68. Brenna finished with a two day total of 141. Mason Seaborn of Montrose, Alabama would finish is a distant second with rounds of 76-77. Bodenstein, who was tied for the lead heading into Sunday, faltered to third place with a final round of 80. In the Boys 13-15 division, Joe Stepnes of Pensacola, Florida opened the weekend with a two- over- par 74 to lead by one over Clayton Vannoy. Stepnes fired a one-over-par 73 on Sunday to seal his first HJGT victory with a two day total of 147. Second place went to last year’s champion Cody Wyatt of Mobile, Alabama. Wyatt shot dual rounds of 78 to finish at 156 for the weekend. First round leader Clayton Vannoy of Pensacola, Florida fell to third place after a final round of 82. Vannoy finished with a two day total of 157. In the Boys 10-12 division, Alex Lucking of Miramar Beach, Florida took home the title with rounds of 89-90. Lucking finished with a tournament total of 179. In the Girls 15-19 division, Haley Mize of Mobile, Alabama claimed victory with rounds of 84-77. Mize was the leader by three shots heading into Sunday and never looked back. Langley Vannoy of Pensacola, Florida took home second place honors with rounds of 87-84.
