St Johns Junior Open St. Johns Golf and Country Club St. Augustine, FL July 22-23, 2009 Berlin comes from behind Wiquist wins in a playoff St. Augustine, FL- St. Johns Golf and Country Club in St. Augustine, Florida hosted the second annual St. Johns Junior Open July 22-23, 2009. The course was in pristine condition with fast and firm greens. Wednesday and Thursday’s weather was hot and humid with very light wind. In the Boys 16-19 division, Evan Berlin of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL took home the title with two consistent rounds of 74, which included four birdies for the tournament. With this win, Berlin moves into first place in the point standings with 3,100 points just ahead of Mike Jarnot and Coley Davis. Mike Jarnot of Lake Worth, FL fired a first round 72 for a share of the lead, but cooled off a bit on day two with a final round of 78 for second place. Third place goes to Michael Cameron of Jacksonville, FL and Doug Chickarello of North Charleston, SC with tournament totals of 154. In the Boys 13-15 division, Rocco Russo of Heathrow, FL won the division with rounds of 72 and 73, which included seven birdies over the two days, giving him a 145 two-day total. Chase Berlin of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL took home second place after firing two rounds of 74. Matthew Plunkett of St. Augustine, FL rounded out the top three with rounds of 73 and 76. In the Boys 10-12 division, Kyler Tate of Keystone Heights, FL takes home the title after firing a 4-under-par 68 on day one, followed by a 73 on day two. Zach Hoskins of Orlando, FL took home second place with rounds of 73 and 71 for an even par 144 tournament total. Current points leader Jack Comstock of Jacksonville, FL finished alone in third place after posting a tournament total of three-over-par 147. In the Girls 15-19 division, it took a playoff to decide the champion but Heather Wiquist of Bluffton, SC took recorded her second victory of the season. Wiquist fired rounds of 80-79. Shane Crutchfield of St. Petersburg, Florida was the first runner up with rounds of 81-78 for a two day total of 159. Dana Quinn of Alachua, FL took home third place with rounds of 82 and 83.
